TuxCare Confirmed To Join The Next Tech Tarik Think Tank Session Managing End of Life Infrastructure in an Era of Continuous Change

The next session of the Tech Tarik Think Tank is slated to take place in Ara Damansara on 13th October. The question up for discussion: Stuck with Legacy: How Do We Secure, Support and Modernise Systems That Can’t Be Replaced?
With this in mind, the group invited experts from TuxCare to join the dialogue. Co-founder of the Think Tank, Izuddin Abdullah, explained why this discussion is much needed.
“IT leaders in Malaysia are under increasing pressure to accelerate digital transformation initiatives, but what the business often doesn’t understand is that many of us face a very difficult reality. Namely, that many of our most critical systems remain tied to legacy platforms and applications that cannot simply be replaced. Whether due to operational dependencies, regulatory requirements, budget constraints or business risk, end-of-life infrastructure remains a challenge for IT professionals trying to juggle this problem.”
The aim of the Think Tank is to bring together industry-leading technology practitioners with subject matter experts to have frank, open dialogue and wrestle with pressing issues. We document the discussion and share it via multiple platforms so that other IT professionals wrestling with the same issues can benefit from the pooled learnings.
This makes TuxCare’s participation in the discussion particularly relevant. Harisfadzilla Jamel (Open Source Software Consulting Lead) and (Head of APAC Alliances) will be on hand to contribute to the discussion.
They will bring knowledge based on TuxCare’s position as the world leader in assisting organisations to secure and maintain critical systems beyond traditional vendor support lifecycles.
Whilst we never know where the dialogue will lead, the TuxCare duo expect to share information on their areas of expertise, including Extended Lifecycle Support, live patching and vulnerability management.
For businesses, continuing to operate legacy Linux environments and other critical infrastructure without compromising security or operational stability is a genuine problem that is only going to become more challenging. The dialogue should provide a mix of hands-on challenges combined with advice on best practices that will provide a blueprint for IT professionals to bridge the gap between existing environments and future modernisation plans.
Izuddin shared some of the areas that he expects the conversation to touch on, including:
- Managing technical debt
- End-of-life platforms and infrastructure
- Balancing security, compliance and business continuity
- Quantifying the cost of maintaining ageing systems
- Supporting innovation while carrying legacy technology
- Practical transition strategies towards modernisation
These are all areas that align closely with the challenges TuxCare helps customers address every day. The company’s experience working with organisations that must support ageing but business-critical systems will no doubt mean that Haris and Esteban can provide valuable insight into how enterprises can reduce risk while maintaining operational resilience.
TuxCare’s involvement in this event is born out of the company’s belief that it is important to share grounded, real-world perspectives on extending the life of essential systems safely and responsibly.
The Tech Tarik Group looks forward to a productive, informative and educational sharing session on the 13th.
