Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison Commits to Protect Indonesia’s Personal Data
Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH) reaffirms its commitment to safeguarding customer personal data. As digitalisation accelerates in Indonesia, Indosat is not only focused on providing services that connect and empower people but also on ensuring security and privacy, which are fundamental rights for every customer.
Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, stated, “We have a mission to connect and empower every Indonesian through digital technology. However, we also understand that personal data security is the foundation of customer trust. Therefore, we are committed to ensuring that every step towards equitable digitalisation in Indonesia is carried out while maintaining the highest standards in data protection.”
As a concrete manifestation of this commitment, Indosat has implemented various initiatives and services both internally and for customers. Recently, Indosat, through the IM3 brand, introduced IMSecure, a data security solution designed to protect customers from various digital threats. With IMSecure, IM3 customers receive comprehensive protection against threats such as identity theft and cyberattacks. This technology was developed through a strategic collaboration with a global company experienced in digital security, ensuring that the protection standards applied are the best in the industry.
The IMSecure initiative not only protects customers but also becomes an integral part of Indosat’s mission to empower society through safe and equitable digitalisation. As more Indonesian citizens connect to the digital world, personal data protection becomes increasingly crucial. IMSecure addresses this need, allowing customers to enjoy the benefits of digitalisation without compromising their personal information security.
Additionally, Indosat has launched several key initiatives aimed at strengthening personal data protection in accordance with PDP regulations. Indosat has implemented a data privacy awareness program, including training and socialisation regarding the PDP Law for all employees. This program aims to ensure that the entire team understands and complies with the rules for managing customer personal data.
Indosat has also conducted data type mapping and PDP compliance assessments. This initiative is crucial as part of Indosat’s efforts to comply with relevant laws. Indosat maps out the types of data collected and processed and determines the legal basis for processing such data. The results of this mapping are then compared with PDP regulations to ensure that all data processing activities comply with applicable regulations.
Furthermore, Indosat has developed technical policies and procedures that cover all activities related to personal data management, from collection and sharing to data deletion mechanisms. These policies are designed to minimise the risk of data breaches and ensure the integrity of customer data.
To ensure no data breaches occur, Indosat has implemented advanced data protection systems and tools. These systems are designed to manage compliance with PDP and protect personal data from security threats, including when using third-party services.
Indosat Ooredoo Building Trust in the Digital Ecosystem
In the context of equitable digitalisation, Indosat also emphasises the importance of building trust in the digital ecosystem. Through IMSecure and various digital literacy initiatives, Indosat aims to increase public awareness of the importance of personal data protection. The educational programs launched include guides on recognising and avoiding digital threats, such as phishing and malware, as well as steps to maintain online privacy.
“In pursuing our mission to connect and empower Indonesia, we recognise that security is key to sustainability and trust in the digital ecosystem. We are committed to continually innovating in personal data protection, ensuring that everyone connected through our network can do so safely and with confidence,” concluded Vikram.
