Sumsub Global Fraud Index: APAC Is Third Most Protected Region Against Fraud

Latest Findings Indicate the Region Is Doing Well Against Fraud

Sumsub, a leading full-cycle verification platform, has released the Sumsub Global Fraud Index, revealing the Asia Pacific region (APAC) as the third most protected region. This highlights the ongoing efforts of various governments to maintain digital security and promote a secure digital economy.

The Sumsub Global Fraud Index also ranked Singapore as the country most protected against fraud, with a score of 1.09 on the Global Fraud Index, followed by New Zealand (1.87), Japan (1.89), Australia (1.95), and Malaysia (2.60).

The Sumsub Global Fraud Index is the first comprehensive study covering 103 countries, across the Americas, Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) and APAC. It identifies the underlying factors that contribute to fraud, aiming to raise public awareness of these root causes. The analysis focuses on four key pillars—Fraud Rate, Resource Accessibility, Government Intervention, and Economic Health—providing a thorough assessment of each country’s resilience against fraud.

What the Sumsub Global Fraud Index Found

Other key highlights of the Sumsub Global Fraud Index study include:

  • Top APAC countries least protected against digital fraud areSri Lanka, Indonesia, India, Bangladesh, and Pakistan.
  • Countries with a GDP per Capita of less than USD $25,000 are showing higher rates of fraud activity on average, when compared with countries with GDP exceeding USD $25,000.
  • EMEA(Europe, Middle East and Africa region) has the fastest access to all the necessary KYC/AML services.
  • The S. has the highest government Artificial Intelligence readinessindex across the globe.
  • The Nordic countriesshow the highest e-government services availability.
