Singapore’s Cybersecurity Talent Gets a Boost from Fortinet and Temasek Poly Collaboration

Fortinet®, the global cybersecurity leader driving the convergence of networking and security, today announced that the company has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Temasek Polytechnic (TP), a leading institution of higher learning, to provide its students with Fortinet’s industry-recognised cybersecurity training and certification program.

Through this partnership, Fortinet’s award-winning certification training curriculum will be included in Temasek Polytechnic’s current cybersecurity courses offered by its School of Informatics & IT. This is part of TP’s efforts to develop students with real-world learning programmes and professional opportunities beyond the classroom through collaborations and a robust curriculum developed with industry partners.

In addition, the Fortinet Network Security Expert certification training will be accessible to faculty staff and students across a range of topics such as network and cloud security, security operations, security analytics and threat intelligence. Students will also have an opportunity to learn from Fortinet’s experts through guest lectures held atTP. Also, Fortinet-certified instructors will deliver guidance to students through case studies and hands-on experiences, complete with real-world exercises.

This comprehensive academic partner program is designed to develop cyber professionals who are well-equipped to meet the demands of the industry and to address the shortage of cybersecurity talent in Singapore and beyond. According to the 2024 Global Cybersecurity Skills Gap Report, 87% of organisational leaders said they experienced one or more breaches, with 70% of them partially attributing the breach to the lack of cybersecurity skills, and 72% indicated that it is difficult to find candidates with right technology-focused certifications.

In addition, Fortinet and TP will set up an Operational Technology Security Laboratory, which will serve as a sandbox for joint projects relating to educational and research purposes.
