Indosat Launches AI-Powered Anti-Spam, Anti-Scam Solution to Protect Indonesians from Digital Fraud
Tangible Manifestations of the Inclusive Use of AI for All of Indonesia's Society

Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia (Komdigi), has launched a new Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered Anti-Spam and Anti-Scam solution designed to protect its customers from the growing threat of digital fraud.
This new AI-powered solution is a direct response to the growing risk of digital scams and the need of customers for digital protection. According to the Asia Scam Report 2024 by the Global Anti-Scam Alliance (GASA), 65% of Indonesians receive scam attempts weekly, ranging from phishing text messages, to fake job offers, to fraudulent investment schemes. This highlights the urgent need for stronger, more inclusive digital protection.
Indosat Reaffirming Its Commitment to Created a Safe Digital Space for Indonesians
The Anti-Spam and Anti-Scam feature works automatically and in real-time, detecting suspicious senders or callers, filtering potential threats, and alerting customers. The technology is built on the AIvolusi5G foundation, combining AI sophistication with Indosat’s responsive, adaptive, and relevant 5G network. With on-network processing capability, this feature does not require advanced devices or premium connections, making it accessible to all, regardless of location.
Vikram Sinha, President Director and CEO of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, reaffirmed Indosat’s commitment to creating a safe and trusted digital space, saying: “At Indosat, we believe digital protection is a fundamental right for every Indonesian. Our partnership with Tanla to deploy the AI-powered anti-spam and anti-scam solution shows how technology can safeguard daily digital lives. Built on Indosat’s sovereign AI factory with state-of-the-art NVIDIA Blackwell GPUs, this solution strengthens Indonesia’s capability to fight spam and scam in real time, reinforcing the nation’s digital resilience and public trust.”
A Collaboration with Technology Partners in Indonesia
The launch of Anti-Spam and Anti-Scam features is in collaboration with Tanla, the AI technology platform partner, and supported by global collaborators including Mastercard, GASA, and GSMA. With a spirit of gotong royong, Indosat and its collaborators are teaming up to combat spam and scam issues in Indonesia. The launch demonstrates how operator-led innovation can play a transformative role in addressing fraud and safeguarding digital access across Indonesia and the wider Asia Pacific region.
Nezar Patria, Vice Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia, expressed support for the initiative, stating: “The government welcomes the collaborative efforts initiated by Indosat as part of a collective effort to create a safe digital space. AI should bring technology closer and open more opportunities for society to grow. Indonesia does not want to only be a consumer of technology, but also a key player in shaping AI usage that meets the real needs of society.”
