CyberSecurity Malaysia Hosts Networking Event for Safer Internet Day 2023, Announces New Exhibitors for CyberDSA 2023

Cybersecurity is a growing issue as the Internet and digital technology become more integral to daily life. Cybercrime, which encompasses anything from phishing emails to malicious software downloads, is a serious problem that can result in huge financial losses, widespread disruption, and even a danger to the public.

With these challenges in mind, Aerosea Exhibitions Sdn Bhd and CyberSecurity Malaysia hosted a networking event for the cybersecurity industry as part of the larger celebrations for Safer Internet Day 2023. Over 300 invited professionals, corporate leaders, and government officials attended the event, which was held at Menara Cyber Axis in Cyberjaya. They met in a casual atmosphere to share and debate developments in the field of cybersecurity.

The second Tuesday of every February is designated as Safer Internet Day in over 200 nations. It is a worldwide campaign for better online behaviour and security. As part of the CyberSAFE initiative, CyberSecurity Malaysia has been spearheading the Malaysian celebration of Safer Internet Day since 2010.

In her opening remarks, YB Teo Nie Ching, Malaysia’s Deputy Minister of Communications and Digital, praised the event as a preventative measure to deal with threats to the country’s digital spaces. “The Malaysian edition of SID this year, as helmed by CyberSecurity Malaysia, is focused around the SIBER MALAYSIA MADANI: Sentiasa Bijak, Sentiasa Selamat’. While this campaign seeks to educate the public on being smarter digital citizens by promoting self-accountability, the ministry welcomes more industry stakeholders to participate in their own way — this afternoon’s conversation is a stellar example of doing just that.”

Also present were the Chairman of the Board of Directors CyberSecurity Malaysia, General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr) Haji Zulkifeli Bin Mohd Zin; Secretary General, Ministry of Communications and Digital, Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Bin Mentek; Chief Executive Officer, CyberSecurity Malaysia, Dato’ Ts Dr Haji Amirudin Bin Abdul Wahab and Director General Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Division, Rear Admiral Dato’ Shamsuddin bin Hj Ludin.

The networking event also saw the announcement of new exhibitors set to feature their cybersecurity products and solutions at the upcoming Cyber Digital Services, Defence and Security Asia Expo and Conference (CyberDSA) 2023. The new exhibitors recently signed the contract are Adaptive Netpoleon Malaysia Sdn Bhd (Netscout), Cyble Inc, First Billennium Sdn Bhd (Sion Defence), Ishantech (M) Sdn Bhd, and MSP Systems (M) Sdn Bhd.

From August 15-17, 2023, the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre will play host to CyberDSA 2023, the first such event. The event is being organised by Aerosea Exhibitions Sdn. Bhd with backing from CyberSecurity Malaysia and the Malaysian Armed Forces’ Defence Cyber and Electromagnetic Division. Siber Siaga and CSM-ACE will be hosted in conjunction with the event, adding to the prestige of the setting. Under CyberSecurity Malaysia’s auspices, the annual CSM-ACE event provides a podium for industry leaders to discuss pressing topics; share insights on cutting-edge developments in cybersecurity, and honour the efforts of those who have made significant contributions to the area. Siber Siaga was created by the Defense Cyber & Electromagnetic Division with the goal of bolstering cybersecurity cooperation between the ATM, private sector, academic institutions, and the general public to ensure Malaysian cyber sovereignty.

Over 5,000 attendees from 20 countries are expected to attend this year’s annual conference, where more than 100 exhibitors will display the newest in cutting-edge cybersecurity technologies. Emerging cybersecurity technologies such as cyber defence, land and cellular network security, big data, cloud computing solutions, Artificial Intelligence, and blockchain technology will be the focus of CyberDSA 2023’s keynote addresses, talks, roundtable discussions, and exhibits over the course of the conference’s three-day schedule.

“In this day and age, where cybersecurity threats are not limited by geographical or organisational boundaries, stakeholder collaboration has become an imperative. Given the wealth of expertise gathered here at this moment, I hope that you will join us at CyberDSA 2023 to shape the future of cybersecurity together,” said General Tan Sri Dato’ Sri (Dr) Haji Zulkifeli Bin Mohd Zin, inviting those who were present, to CyberDSA 2023, in order to better shape Malaysia in combatting cyber threats.
