HID Previews New-Generation Amico Biometric Readers to Drive Smarter, Safer Access in Southeast Asia

Combining Convenient Facial Recognition with Privacy-First Design to Deliver Fast, Secure, and Seamless Access That Supports the Region’s Smart City Ambitions

HID, a global leader in trusted identity solutions, previewed its latest innovation—the HID Amico™ Biometric Facial Recognition Readers—at The Security Event Asia 2025, marking the first public showcase of the new solution in Singapore.

Designed for fast, accurate facial recognition, HID Amico are ideal for high-traffic entrances and other locations that need seamless access with less intervention. The solution embodies HID’s vision for trusted access—where identity, convenience, and security converge effortlessly.

As Singapore advances its Smart Nation ambitions, the demand for secure and seamless access in smart buildings and high-traffic facilities continues to accelerate. The country’s access control market is projected to reach USD 241 million (SGD $341.5 million) by 2033, driven by rapid digitalisation, the expansion of smart infrastructures and rising security requirements across commercial, residential and government sectors.

Amid this transformation, many organisations are seeking to strengthen visibility and control across hybrid workplaces and multi-site environments, while maintaining high standards of security, compliance, and user experience.

HID Amico: Advancing a Vision of Bridging Physical and Digital Identities

To meet these evolving needs, HID continues to advance its vision of bridging physical and digital identity management through biometrics. HID Amico embodies this approach by integrating with HID Mobile Access and its credential management platforms, enabling organisations to manage
identities, permissions and analytics within a unified ecosystem. The result is greater scalability,
operational visibility and compliance assurance, with the added benefit of seamless, user-friendly
access.

“We are witnessing rapid digitalisation—not only in financial institutions, but also in commercial real estate, hospitality, retail and enterprises,” said Prabhuraj Patil, Senior Director, Physical Access Control Solutions, ASEAN & India Subcontinent at HID. “Buildings are becoming smarter and more connected, while regulations around data privacy and security continue to tighten. HID Amico helps organisation navigate this shift by bringing together biometric precision and automation to secure every access point seamlessly.”

HID Amico transforms everyday entry points into intelligent, connected touchpoints—enhancing
both building security and overall user experience. HID Amico consists of a 3.5″ and 7″ model. The 3.5″ model is currently available in most countries in ASEAN and India. The 7″ model will become available in early 2026.
