Canada Opens New BlackBerry Secure Communications HQ in Malaysia

Governments of Canada and Malaysia Unite to Celebrate BlackBerry’s Growing Investment in Malaysia and Continued Support in Fostering Growth and Cyber Resilience Under Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy

BlackBerry Limited has revealed pictures of Canada’s Parliamentary Secretary of Trade, Yasir Naqvi, during his visit to Malaysia, and High Commissioner of Canada to Malaysia, Jodi Robinson, to celebrate the Canadian company’s expanding Asia Pacific (APAC) Regional Headquarters, offering dedicated support, sales, marketing, and world-class cybersecurity training.

Taking place after last week’s ASEAN Summit Economic Ministers’ meetings, an event was held at the MCMC and BlackBerry Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) on Friday 26 September 2025, marking BlackBerry’s new sales and marketing headquarters at Q Sentral (Kuala Lumpur) and its fully operational regional 24/7 Support Centre in Mont Kiara.  The visitors also had a tour of the rapidly expanding CCoE training facility in Cyberjaya, which is soon to undergo a major revamp, including high-performance lab infrastructure, interactive kiosks, a cyber war room, and SOC simulator—enhancing the hands-on and real-world learning experiences for cyber-defenders, along with the facility’s range of 55+ courses on offer.

Naqvi: “As Malaysia continues to grow as a trusted hub for cybersecurity and secure communications, we are pleased to see Canadian companies like BlackBerry invest, grow and thrive here and deepen Canada’s support for the Government of Malaysia. More than ever, public-private sector partnerships like these, which bring advanced capabilities to the region, demonstrate a shared commitment to our strengthening partnership, enhancing cyber resilience, capacity-building and innovation in Malaysia and ASEAN under Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.”

Blackberry to Help to Make Malaysia a Hub for Secure Communications

This shared vision for bolstering digital resilience is echoed by Malaysia’s regulators, with MCMC welcoming BlackBerry’s expanded footprint as a catalyst for deeper public–private collaboration. Building on the MCMC and BlackBerry Cybersecurity Centre of Excellence in Cyberjaya, the expansion strengthens Malaysia’s position as a regional hub for secure communications while enhancing the nation’s ability to support government, critical infrastructure, and industry against evolving cyber threats.

“BlackBerry is a proud Canadian company, and we are excited to celebrate our continued expansion and growth in Malaysia” said Tash Stamatelos, Senior Vice President for BlackBerry in APAC. “We are grateful to the Government of Malaysia for their trust in our partnership, our solutions, and our commitment to supporting the nation address complex risks, from espionage and cyberattacks to disaster response, while working with MCMC and our government partners to help upskill the national cyber -workforce.”

Further building on Malaysia’s growth as an international hub, this announcement comes after the Government of Canada announced a USD $3.9 million (CAD) multi-year investment in cybersecurity training at the facility at APEC in November 2024.
