Kaspersky Who Calls 2.0: Block More Spam & Unwanted Calls

Kaspersky has enriched mobile protection for customers by adding a new feature to Kaspersky Who Calls, an app allowing users to fight mobile spam, scams and fraud. New functionality lets users block incoming calls from any number not saved in the contact lists. In addition to blocking, Kaspersky Who Calls can still alert users to the origins of such calls – a feature that could be useful for seniors and young kids, in order to protect them from potential scammers.

Phone calls remain one of the primary methods used for scams and multiple reports from countries including Malaysia, UK, Singapore, and Australia prove this. All these surveys reveal that phone calls are one of the top three tools for scammers globally. Considering such trends, it is essential to take proactive steps to strengthen privacy and personal security on mobile devices.

Considering global trends in mobile security, Kaspersky Who Calls is introducing a new feature that blocks calls from numbers that are not in device owners’ contact list, as well as from hidden numbers. This update is the next step in strengthening protection from undesired communication and potential scams.

After enabling this feature, Kaspersky Who Calls automatically blocks calls from unknown numbers and immediately notifies the user. Users can set up this option and decide whether to turn on or turn off notifications. If the blocked number is associated with known entities like a bank, medical centre, consumer services company, etc., this information will be included in the pop-up notification. This ensures that users remain informed about who tried to contact them, improving their control and safety. The new feature is available in the paid version of Kaspersky Who Calls.

To enable this feature, users need to open the app and go to ‘Settings’ → choose ‘Incoming calls’ → scroll to ‘Spam categories”. The option to block calls from unknown numbers is available only for the Android platform.
